Spring 2015 Biking Events | Part 2

We blogged about some of the upcoming biking events in our area in our previous blog post. However, there were so many events happening that we couldn't fit them all into just one post! So, here you have Part 2!

Iron Horse Bicycle Classic

This event has various races to choose from, including the Durango Coca-Cola Road Race and Grassburger Group Ride. Regardless of your skill level, you should be able to find an event that fits your skills, yet still challenges you!

All of the race routes will begin and end at McPhelemy Park in Buena Vista. Riders can choose from a 35, 50 or 62 mile route. Please note, this event is capped at 900 riders, so if you would like to participate, it is advised that you register early!

This is the largest cycling festival in the Rocky Mountain area. Rides encompass any and every skill level -- from a kids race to a 100 miler!

Death Ride Tour

This race is for experienced riders, as it is a 3-day, 235-mile ride!

Ride the Rockies Bicycle Tour
June 13-20 | Grand Junction to Westcliffe, CO
Celebrating the 30th year of the race, highlights of the Ride the Rockies Tour include Hardscrabble Pass and the Black Canyon!

Moots Colorado Ranch Valley
June 13 | Steamboat Springs
In its second year, only 5 miles of this 50-mile race are actually on pavement. The rest is on dirt and gravel roads throughout the Steamboat Springs area. You may even brush shoulders with some livestock along the way!

Now that you know about some of the amazing races you can participate in throughout our state, now comes the question of where do I go in Golden to prepare? Try Peak Cycles for all of your bike gear and the City of Golden website lists some great local trails to train on! Apex Park is less than 1 mile away from Outlook Golden Ridge apartment homes, making the park an ideal location to ride and train! Get out there and get cycling!
